Thanks for so many supportive responses to my email about the
Battle of the Boroughs: Talent Throwdown at WNYC’s The Greene Space
Some of you have asked... But what exactly is it? Yes I know it's confusing. Artists initially selected by WNYC judges, will perform this Friday April 2nd to stay in the competition to represent Manhattan. It's a round of elimination that takes place, where the top five artists selected by the audience, will then move on in the competition. The other dates listed on the Greene Space website, are the elimination rounds for the other Boroughs,
Here are the basics: WNYC (local NPR affiliate) has a new performance space downtown called The Greene Space. As a way to highlight their new space WNYC has selected (through a submission process) artists from all over the city to perform as part of a competition. It’s a great way to begin programming the space and build an audience.
I submitted months ago and just learned that I have been selected as one of the artists to compete in the April 2nd concert. (and seem to be the only subway performer) The audience that night will vote (so I'll need a good support crowd) and the top 5 will move on to the next round. Ultimately, top performers from each borough will compete and one final artist will be selected for a solo gig at The Greene Space this Summer.
this event is a great way to check out this new performance space (across the street from City Winery) and support me and WNYC.
Thanks, hope to see you there, Cathy
